02 Feb Boosting Productivity with Employee Accountability

employee_productivity
Employee Accountability is the responsibility of employees to complete the tasks they are assigned, to perform the duties required by their job, and to be present for their proper shifts in order to fulfill or further the goals of the organization.

Employee Accountability at the workplace is important to a business success as a whole. Every employee, no matter what level of seniority is equally responsible for aiding in the success of the company. In order to achieve both the long and short term goals of the company, it is important that all people within the company work together and share accountability. Employees who work together towards the same overall goal help their workplace to become more accountable, in turn make the business more productive and efficient.

To get proper employee accountability, employers need to draw up reward mechanisms to motivate a performing staff, as a motivated staff gives his all to get things done and also gear other staff up to surpass the previous rewarded employee which bring about healthy competition amongst member staff.

As quoted by F. Robert Salerno, CEO Avis: “Early in my career, one of the first business lessons I learned was this: It’s impossible to win the hearts and minds of people unless you clearly establish goals and values and reward people if they act in a way that leads to the fulfillment of those objectives. It quickly became clear to me that if you want to make sure your customers are treated well, you have to make sure you treat your employees well and recognize their efforts.”

A motivated staff is a loyal staff and a motivated staff will ensure that he is timely, will complete designated task to time, will be consistent to complete task excellently, will surpass designated task, due to healthy competition as the employees build cordial relationship to achieve same goals.

      Oral Health

  • One of the easiest steps to do to help your teeth keep clean is to Brush Properly. Try to brush at least twice a day or thoroughly rinse your mouth with water after eating to minimize the amount of food that would serve as substrate for the bacteria.
  • Flossing can help you remove food particles and other detrimental substances that brushing regularly cannot. Dentists recommend flossing at least once a day.
  • Avoid Tobacco. It will save you from oral cancer and periodontal complications and also save you from the countless ill effects caused by the agents used to mask the smell of tobacco.
  • Limit Sodas, Coffee and Alcohol. They cause dental hygiene problems such as tooth decay and gum disease.
  • Consume calcium and other vitamins that are good for the body. You need plenty of calcium for your teeth. It is essential for the teeth as well as your bones.
  • You should visit your dentist at least twice a year to have a full hygiene treatment performed.
  • Use mouthwash alongside brushing and flossing. It can help maintain good breath as well as help maintain strong teeth.
  • If you are having tooth and jaw pain make an appointment as soon as possible. Your dentist needs to diagnose the underlying cause and correct it before it turns into a greater problem.
  • Clean the surface of your tongue daily to remove countless bacteria that otherwise live on the rougher part of your tongue.

19 Jan Appreciation is a Business Word

appreciation

Appreciation is a Business Word

“Don’t forget a person’s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated” H. Jackson Brown.

Employees are recruited to use their skills, talents, experience and even relationships to deliver on an organization’s promise to its market. To give anything less than expected performance is a betrayal of the trust reposed in the employee. The question then arises as to why some employees do more than others.

While so many reasons have been put forward, including employees’ personality, background, worldview, emotional intelligence, and so on, one thing that is common to all human beings is captured in H. Jackson Brown’s admonition not to forget that a person’s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.

Definitions of appreciation on the free dictionary website include:

  1. Recognition of the quality, value, significance, or magnitude of people and things.
  2. A judgment or opinion, especially a favorable one.
  3. 3An expression of gratitude.

Amalgamating the aforementioned definitions for the purpose of this article could read thus: <Expressing gratitude to an employee in recognition of his/her quality, value, significance or magnitude of contributions to the success of the organization, based on favourable judgement or opinion of their work>

While I do not lay claim to being lettered, I like the definition I just conjured because it reminds me of the TAMS Ambassador Award that the TAMS Nigeria team initiated two years ago- giving out gifts like electronic appliances, satellite dishes and holiday trips to Obudu and Dubai to celebrate Nigeria’s most productive and punctual employees.
